We headed North on Friday morning. It was hot and sunny. Our rest stop locations were limited due to the Government Shutdown but Dylan found entertainment watching a car go through the car-wash at the Holiday Station we stopped at.
When we arrived at the cabin there were some big trucks parked on the lawn ready to start work on three trees that needed to be taken down. Dylan was really excited! Everyone watched from the deck as the first tree was taken down.
A quick rest with Grandpa on the hammock.
Then the lake was calling us.....
Dylan went in for his first real swim. I say real because at the cabin there is no beach for paddling, we swim off the dock. You may note that Dylan seems to enjoy the swim but he didn't want to go all in again during the rest of the week.
(somehow I couldn't find a life jacket that fit me)
Then the clouds started rolling in. Eventually we had thunder and rain.
Auntie gave Dylan some fishing lessons. This would be his first and last fishing for the week. Matt and I were unable to fish as we didn't have licences and couldn't get any due to the Government Shutdown (in case you hadn't worked it out I think the shutdown is ridiculous!!). The reality is that we probably wouldn't have fished during the week anyway so no big deal.
The wonderful sunset.
