In April we joined a group from the Newcomers Club to visit the Jamaica market and the San Juan market. The Jamaica market is best known for its flowers and plants but the market also has groceries, produce, meat and prepared food. The San Juan market has been described as a 'gourmand's paradise'. The market has fruit and vegetables many of which are difficult to find elsewhere in the city. It also has meat, fish, cheeses, dried mushrooms and lots of imported items - from Thai curry paste to Spanish chorizo sausage. The market also has lots of good food stands. Dylan was getting tired and wriggly by the time we got to the San Juan market so no photos.
There was everything from bunches of a single type of flower to arrangements of roses and lilies to objects decorated with flowers.
~Fruit and Vegetables.
~A little try before you buy
~Dylan liked these fritos that Ana bought.
~Mamey
Dylan was not a fan of the mamey. I thought it was ok. It had a texture like an avocado.
~Jamaica flowers (Hibiscus) and Tamarindo pods for making Agua Fresca.
~Some Jicama with lime, salt and chilli powder on it.
We ate tacos at this busy place.
